Terms of service
Last updated 24 October 2026.
These terms cover your use of Yack, a virtual office for teams made by Thoughtbreak. Each Yack installation is run by an organisation, the operator: usually the employer or organisation that invited you, or Thoughtbreak for its own installations. Where the operator has its own agreement with you or with Thoughtbreak, that agreement takes precedence over these terms. By signing in, you agree to these terms.
Your account
You can use an installation only if its operator has invited you, and you sign in with your own Google or Microsoft account. Keep that account secure; you are responsible for what is done in Yack while you are signed in. The operator's administrators can change your access or disable your account at any time. If you think your account has been misused, use Log out everywhere in My Profile and tell the operator.
Using Yack
Use Yack for the work of the organisation you were invited by, and in keeping with its own policies. Do not:
- post anything unlawful, harassing, discriminatory or infringing someone else's rights;
- record a meeting, or share a recording, transcript or file, against the law or the operator's policies;
- attach malware, or try to break into, overload or disrupt Yack or other people's use of it;
- try to see rooms, messages or data you have not been given access to;
- use automated tools against Yack, except where the operator allows it.
The operator may remove content and suspend accounts that break these terms.
Your content
What you write, attach and record stays yours and your organisation's. You give the operator, and Thoughtbreak as its supplier, permission to store, process and show it to the people you share it with, only as needed to provide Yack. Recordings, transcripts and AI summaries of meetings are made only when someone starts a recording, and everyone in the meeting is told.
AI features
Answers from @Yack and meeting summaries are generated automatically and can be wrong or incomplete. Check anything important against the messages and transcripts they cite before relying on it. How AI requests are handled is described in the Privacy policy.
Calendar sync
If you connect Google Calendar, Yack reads your out-of-office events' times to show your availability, as described in the Privacy policy. You can disconnect at any time.
Availability and changes
Yack is updated regularly and its features can change. The operator and Thoughtbreak aim to keep it available but do not promise it will always be available or free of faults, and upgrades or maintenance may interrupt it briefly. Significant changes are listed in the Release notes.
Liability
Yack is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, Thoughtbreak is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profit or business, arising from your use of Yack. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Ending
You can stop using Yack at any time; ask the operator if you want your account closed. The operator can end your access as described above. What happens to your data afterwards is described in the Privacy policy.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the date at the top changes; significant changes are mentioned in the Release notes. Continuing to use Yack after a change means you accept it.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction, unless the operator's own agreement with you says otherwise.
Contact
Questions about these terms go to the operator's administrators, or to Thoughtbreak at richard.evans@thoughtbreak.com.
